Yesterday's Downpour

So yesterday we had our inaugural dinner club at the Vaudeville Theatre in town. I shall reserve my review of said place in another post, just wanted to actually comment on the rain that came pouring yesterday evening. It's steadily grown colder in the last few weeks, which is normal considering it's winter time now. But i think yesterday's downpour, following a very dismal day was the first winter downpour we've had in weeks. What could I say but that it brought back memories of chilhood back. I used to love our monsoon rains when it would hit us in the months of October and Feb ( or is it April? I'm not sure, I sucked at geography as a student). Our house have been flooded a few times while I was growing up, the heaven would literally be crying nonstop for days, pausing to collect itself for only a few minutes before starting again. I remembered clearly how I had to play rescue ranger and help my mom transfer the rabbits from the pen onto higher ground - into the guinea fowl  pen ( noah's ark...heheh)
Anyway, woke up this morning and yesterday's downpour inspired me to haiku my thoughts down. As the wisests of wise keep on telling us: practice makes perfect. And so practise I will.

Winter Downpour

Evening downpour
City roads become rivers
I run across the street

Drum, clack, hiss
Sings the ground where rain kisses it
Beautiful music

I stand in silence
listening to the sound of
the rain; mesmerised.

Actually...I don't sound that bad

Was googling idly after hours and somehow came across my old blog, which I clearly remembered I had deleted. Somehow, when you delete stuff from the net, it isn't really gone?
Anyway...re read almost all of my old ramblings... and had to admit, okay - actually J you are not so bad with all this blogging shit like you think you are. Oh dear..am i being vain now?

Now how do I transfer all that stuff into my  new blog is the pertinent question I'd like to have answered. I know how to use the PC, I know how to find resources on google but all this jargon about blogging, even some of the facebook stuff( lots of people like it, my boss surely does, but I think it's bleh.) ...when somebody starts going off tangent with this sort of info, I tend to feel like Alice. Lost.

Why are you still blogging nonsense when it's time to go home?!

Guess that's my cue for the day.

Baking and all that Fat(d)

I was in a baking frenzy about a week ago. Which was a real bummer as I was in the midst of my TMC. Well, after three nights of straight baking ( with real butter no less, I honestly just cannot agree to baking with margarine...what's the point of baking if you can;t smell all buttery and yummy?), I gave in to a stick of spicy breadstick. Talk about losing your willpower. I guess if you are a foodie, food addict, comfort eater like I am, it's understandable - we have no will power. I need to simply pinch the side of my waist to know how true this is.

But....

being at that age, and all this pressure to look good.... I can't simply give up, just because I've decided to go all baking crazy. Hence, trying another route - or another diet. (although I really hate the negative connotation that word 'diet' has these days) What I mean is simply watching what goes in my mouth and when. When I did ATKINS at the height of its popularity a few years back, I kind of agreed about the excess carbs causing all those extra baggage below my waist. So....watching my carbs again. That's it. Just watching my carbs and not eating cookies even when I'm tempted for a midnight snack while writing.

Guh. Such a storybook typo, I am.

But back to baking.

I'm determined to make Famous Amos -like - cookies. I miss these sinful stuff. Honestly, I've tried so many brands on the shelf puporting to sell the best choc ship cookies out there, but I have not found one that can match these mouth watering, chip my tooth why-don't you but so good dunked in milk ( or coffee) cookies.
Pretty happy to find out that my first batch ( baked till 11pm can you believe..) yielded similar texture but sadly it was missing the smell. So once I get my next dose of moolah end of the month, will be baking another batch, hopefully using real Irish butter this time. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how some butter sold at supermarketsseem to be lacking that buttery smell as well? ( like those GM flowers  you get at high end supermarket like Woolies here in SA - pretty, long lasting ( expensive!) but might as well be fake because they don't secrete any perfume at all).

I think the secret to the cookies are......

Seriously ..I heart this artist

my sister has a fascination for Japanese men. I suppose we all have our fetishes, we can all dream. But seriously..

Jackson Rathbone is soo f-ing OMG OMG hyperventilate material. This, coming from a 30 ish woman. I know.. sounds so sad but there are just some really beautiful people on earth that you just can't help but talk about. And he's definitely one of them. And for this reason, I am willing to make a fool of myself online..
if you don't know him yet - well you are either very square or very old. Which is it? Haven't you seen Twilight yet???!
( and many moons later i.e now when I finally revisit my site...what about New Moon? Okay wait for Eclipse - which is coming out in July of this year and apparently his hair looks even worst there!)

I try not to be a fangirl like my sister, but he is an exception. Why? Because he's beautiful (seriously, his hair ( not the fugly blond wig he wears in the movies that made him a household name but his real hair..)  is half of that beauty... who can wear a fauxhawk and still look absolutely gorgeous? Apparently he can..and boy he does look good wearing it. Choosing not to post a picture here but google it and see for you yourself.

But above and beyond my immature fangirl fawning - you gotta give credit where credit deserves.... he sounds like a seriously talented artist ( acting, music, written word...) and he likes Haiku. ( this last one just does a number to me... haiku? No ways...)

And that sexy allegory/ simile ( what ever you call it) word play with Tequila - Whiskey - Lust - Love on Glamour. Damn...wet my panties sexy hot as F#$@ answer.....
Haiku is just by the way a Japanese of poetry writing. I love it because it's all about capturing the essence of the moment, and second - it's Japanese.

Ladies Night Out

What a weekend.
I was sloshed.
Funny how alcohol can make you feel sexy.
That's very dangerous isn't it?
A self confessed shy girl....and how true that is ( much to my despair because I am an Aries!!!!)
I need alcohol to sort myself out. Its quite pathetic really.
Even more so because once I've had two glasses of wine or a good strong margarita or two shots of tequila - I'm right there in the valley of stupidity and foolery.
I was glad for the pre celebratory wine before we had supper. I went with two models for heaven sake - sizes 4 to my size 20 ( OK I exaggerate, but you'd feel the same if you were as vertically and horizontally challenged as I am!). And they made me wear heels ( ok wedges) and show skin.... i was horrified. But thankfully too tipsy to internalize the worry. hehehehehe..
That gold lame dress C was wearing - she made it! F yes! And she actually got people asking her where she got it. It was a sexy as hell number...short and covering just the assets....Oh yes..its definitely a Crimson Lush label. Ho yeah!

How gumuk am I??? Gumuks!!!
So much so..I have out myself on a freaking diet as of today. Okay...granted cameras add 20 pounds to your face...shit...my friends must be freakin thin hey? Welll they were called models..by passerby that night..
Jools, YT and C

Jools and YT
Can you believe she is a mama? She is tight everywhere, you'd do a triple take if she told you she recently had a baby.
that's what I want to be when I grow up....( sheesh..)

A kiss, and ass grabber opportunist later..hmmm.....
Margarita anyone?
